A suspect is in custody after a police officer was struck by a vehicle in Langley Friday morning.
A Langley RCMP officer was conducting traffic enforcement in the 5000 block of 208th Street around 11:20am this morning when the Mountie was struck by a vehicle.
The suspect vehicle fled the scene heading northbound on 208th Street.
Investigators were led to an address in the area and arrested a 22-year-old Langley man without incident. The suspect vehicle, a blue Infiniti G35, was recovered at the address.
“The Langley RCMP would like to express a huge thanks to the local public and our safety partners that involved themselves in the incident with our officer this morning. Numerous by-standers stopped to provide both medical assistance or waited to provide witness accounts,” says Officer in Charge of Langley RCMP, Supt. Adrian Marsden.
“The amazing response from on duty and off-duty British Columbia Ambulance Service paramedics and members of the Langley City Fire department was incredible. Even members of the community who had been stopped in the traffic enforcement campaign graciously did all they could to assist! Given the egregiousness of his injuries, our officer’s fate likely could have been far worse if it had not been for the kindness of those who helped. It proved to us once again how lucky we are to live and work in this community.”
Anyone with dash cam footage or information is asked to contact Langley RCMP at 604-532-3200 and quote file number 24-25379.
