One man is dead following a fire in Surrey Monday morning.
Just before 2:30am, Surrey RCMP received a report of a structure fire in the upper residential suites of a commercial building in the 13400-block of 71A Avenue.
Surrey Fire Department responded to the scene and evacuated the occupants in the other suites.
Despite their best efforts, a 54-year-old man died.

“Surrey Fire Department located a man in a suite, and with the assistance of BC Emergency Health Services (EHS) performed lifesaving efforts; unfortunately, the 54-year-old Surrey man did not survive,” said Cpl. James Mason.
Two pets also died in the fire.
Investigators say the fire wasn’t suspicious.
