It was a week ago that an Amber Alert was launched for 8-year-old Aurora Bolton and 10-year-old Joshuah Bolton.
Investigators have reasonable ground to believe that the children are in “imminent danger”.
An Amber Alert was issued on July 19th after the two children were supposed to be returned to their father by their mother, Verity Bolton.
“Police continue to have concerns for the safety and well being of Joshuah and Aurora, who have not been seen since they were captured on video in Merritt, BC on July 7, 2023,” say Surrey RCMP.
It is believed the children are in the company of Verity’s father, Robert Bolton and Verity’s boyfriend, Abraxas Glazov.

“Investigators are dedicated to advancing this investigation and are working around the clock to safely locate Joshuah and Aurora,” says Cpl. Vanessa Munn, Media Relations Officer for the Surrey RCMP. “This is not something police can do alone, information provided by the public through the 24/7 tip line is and will continue to be a key part of the investigation.”
“In Surrey, we have a dedicated investigational team and continue to utilize all available resources and partners to assist, including BC RCMP divisional resources across the province, local law enforcement and community partner agencies who have all continued to provide invaluable assistance,” says Staff Sergeant Dave Strachan, Surrey RCMP Major Crime Section. “We are all working toward a common goal, the safe return of Joshuah and Aurora.”
On July 24th, police stated the abduction was “pre-planned” and that Verity has taken the children “off the grid”.
On July 25th, the family of Aurora and Joshuah issued an emotional appeal for their safe return.
“Our family would like to share with you the love and joy that Aurora and Joshuah bring to our lives everyday. They are so much more than ‘missing children’, more than a few photos,” reads the family’s message.
“The love they share with their big sisters and brother is beyond beautiful and the impact on their siblings is so devastating. They love the time they spend playing with them, loving them and teasing them, it is a very big part of their world.”
Joshuah is described as being a joker and someone who loves to help with the cooking at home.

“At home Joshuah loves to help with the cooking, but not the dishes. He loves to spend time playing online games, chatting with his best friends (but will drop everything for a walk with his Stepmom). He will run down from his room mid-game to give a hug & a kiss and share a silly video, or a ‘hilarious’ fart joke.”
When it comes to Aurora, she is described as being the sweetest girl who loves crafts.

“Aurora is the sweetest girl and is an amazing helper too. Always keeping herself busy with crafts, trying new things and creating. We have a dance party with her before bed so she brushes her teeth more than 30 seconds, then gets a special bedtime ritual of hugs and kisses. Both kids love a good ‘scratch-back’ before bed and we take this time to chat and connect with them one-on-one. They share their day, their hurts, their questions with us, and then go to bed with a good snuggle and kiss.”
