19-year-old passenger slashes ride-share driver with knife in East Vancouver

A ride-share driver was slashed with a knife after an altercation broke out with a passenger in East Vancouver this past Friday.

Police say the incident happened around 8:40pm Friday evening near Trout Lake Park after the driver picked up two passengers on Quebec Street and transported them to Nanaimo Street and South Grandview Highway.

“There was an altercation at the end of the trip, resulting in the driver being injured,” said police in a statement.

Police found the suspect on Nanaimo Street after a witness called 911.

The Vancouver Police Department confirms a teenager was arrested by officers.

“A 19-year-old man has been charged for assault with a weapon.”
