Pedestrian dies after being struck by a train in Surrey

A man has died after being struck by a train in Surrey Friday morning.

Police responded the railway tracks in the area of 104 Avenue and 124A Street just before 7:30am today. Surrey RCMP were notified of the incident by the Southern Railway of British Columbia.



Despite lifesaving efforts by emergency personnel, the man succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

“It’s very early in the investigation which will be conducted concurrently with the BC Coroner’s Service,” said Sgt. Tammy Lobb. “As with any sudden death investigation, police will be speaking with people who may have information regarding the victim and his recent movements to determine the events that led up to this incident.
