Pedestrian struck and killed by car that jumped curb straight into downtown Vancouver store

A pedestrian walking in downtown Vancouver was struck and killed by a vehicle Thursday morning.

Vancouver Police say the fatal collision occurred at Columbia Street and East Hastings Street just before 11am. The pedestrian was struck after two vehicles collided in the intersection, resulting in one car jumping the curb.

A video shared on Tik Tok shows the vehicle that crashed into the Vancity Corner Store in the downtown Eastside.

“Despite life-saving efforts by first responders, the pedestrian died at the collision scene,” said Sgt. Steve Addison.

Investigators say both drivers remained on scene.

VPD’s Collision Investigation Unit is investigating the fatal crash. itnesses and drivers with dash cam video are asked to call 604-717-3012.
