A 25-year-old man was arrested in Surrey after fleeing from police on his motorcycle last week.
On May 24th, 2023, at approximately 9pm, the Surrey RCMP Gang Enforcement Team (SGET) was notified that Air 1 was following a motorcycle travelling 200 km/h on King George Boulevard near 56 Avenue.
“The bike stopped at a red light and police officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop but the rider fled,” says Cpl. Vanessa Munn.

While police did not follow the motorcycle, Air 1 “continued to follow it to the 14900-block of 68A Avenue where it stopped.” Police arrived on scene and arrested a 25-year-old man for dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and flight from police.
He has been released on an appearance notice with a future court date.
The motorcycle was seized as offence related property and is being considered for the civil forfeiture process. In March, the same driver has his motorcycle impounded for excessive speeding.
“This kind of reckless driving behavior shows a complete disregard for the safety of everyone on the road,” says Surrey RCMP Media Relations Officer, Corporal Vanessa Munn. “The coordinated effort between Air 1 and SGET lead to the driver being taken into custody safely.”
