In an update today, Surrey RCMP say they have identified a person of interest in connection to a stranger sexual assault that occurred earlier this month.
“On July 27, 2024 the individual was identified and spoken to by investigators. Surrey RCMP has removed the video as the investigation continues,” said Sgt. Tammy Lobb in a release.
Police responded to a report of a stranger sexual assault in the 14100 block of 91 Avenue in the city’s Newton at 3:15am on Saturday, July 20th.
The victim was “woken up by a man groping her” inside her home.
“The victim screamed for help and the suspect fled,” said Cpl. Sarbjit K. Sangha in a release at the time.

On July 25th, police released video footage of a person of interest in connection to the incident. The video has since been removed.
