Police asking for public’s help to identify Surrey arson suspect

Police are asking for the public’s help to identify a Surrey arson suspect.

On June 5th, 2023, at approximately 12:45pm, Surrey RCMP responded to the report of a fire at the front entrance of a building located in the 13900-block of 100 Avenue. Surrey Fire Service also responded to the scene and quickly put out the fire.

“There was minimal damage and no injuries reported,” says police.

“It is clear that the fire was deliberately set, however the motive is unknown. The Surrey RCMP General Investigation Unit have conduct of the ongoing investigation and are working closely with the Surrey RCMP Arson Coordinator,” says Sgt. Tammy Lobb.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian male wearing a grey hoodie, green shirt underneath, grey shorts, black shoes with low cut socks and carrying a dark backpack on his back, was seen running from the scene.

Anyone who was in the area and may have witnessed anything suspicious, or anyone who recognizes the man in the photo is asked to contact Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502.
