The Port Moody Police Department has launched an investigation after a car was driven into the Burrard Inlet earlier this week.
Just before 10pm Monday evening, police responded to a report of a live-streaming video taking place at the Rocky Point boat launch in Port Moody. Investigators say a “man was allegedly being paid to drive his vehicle into the inlet”.
“Upon police arrival, the vehicle was fully submerged in the ocean,” said Cst. Sam Zacharias.
The driver was located at the scene and detained by police. The driver was released and could be facing charges for mischief and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
“Police are aware of videos of this incident circulating on social media,” added Cst. Sam Zacharias.
