The province is warning drivers to “prepare for winter conditions” as a snowfall warning has been issued for Metro Vancouver.
“While spring may be just around the corner, people are reminded to be ready for winter conditions this week throughout the south coast region,” says the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure in a release.
Beginning Tuesday afternoon, this latest storm will bring a “wintry mix of precipitation to the Lower Mainland” that’ll last through Wednesday.
Local snowfall accumulations near 5 cm is expected across many parts of Metro Vancouver.

The Ministry says the “mix of rain and snow could affect the Tuesday afternoon commute in the Lower Mainland”.
“Drivers should ensure vehicles are properly equipped for winter conditions, including having winter or snow-rated tires in good condition.”
The snow will transition to “moderate rain” near midnight. Once the snow has stopped, we could see up to 40 mm of rain. The province says workers “will be out in full force applying brine and abrasives and clearing any accumulations of snow”. Workers will utilize the cable collar systems on the Port Mann and Alex Fraser bridges to clear snow and ice as needed.
