Vancouver-raised teenager Lil Tay who rose to fame with her controversial social media videos has died. The news was shared on her Instagram page.
The Instagram post says that her older brother has also tragically passed away.
“It is with a heavy heart that we share the devastating news of our beloved Claire’s sudden and tragic passing. We have no words to express the unbearable loss and indescribable pain,” reads a post shared on her Instagram page.
“This outcome was entirely unexpected, and has left us all in shock. Her brother’s passing adds an even more unimaginable depth to our grief.”

Lil Tay, whose real name is Claire Hope, was about 14 or 15 years old at the time of her passing.
Lil Tay became a popular social media personality who would post herself rapping and showing off her expensive possessions.

“Claire will forever remain in our hearts, her absence leaving an irreplaceable void that will be felt by all who knew and loved her.”
With the family asking for privacy, the post mentions that the “circumstances surrounding Claire and her brother’s passing are still under investigation”.
