Vancouver-born actor and producer Ryan Reynolds was in Vancouver yesterday for a private ceremony to receive the Order of BC, the province’s highest honour.
BC Premier David Eby and BC Lieutenant Governor Janet Austin were in attendance to present Reynolds with the honour.

“Today, I had the privilege of attending a small ceremony for @VancityReynolds as he was officially inducted into the Order of BC,” said the Premier.
“Ryan’s extraordinary skill as an actor and entertainer is well known – he can put a smile on the face of almost anyone.”
Best known for his role in the Deadpool movies, the 47-year-old holds an ownership stake in Mint Mobile and is a co-owner of Welsh football club Wrexham A.F.C. In 2020, Reynolds sold his ownership stake of Aviation Gin to Diageo for $610 million.
After the cermony, Reynolds shared a post on Instagram, and it typical fashion, he made some hilarious remarks.
“Receiving the Order of British Columbia is the honour of a lifetime. I could have been born anywhere but I had the dumb and incredible luck to be made in Vancouver,” reads his post.
“**Contrary to my earlier belief, the award is NOT a political appointment.** It’s merely symbolic and holds no real power.”
He also mentioned a number of local Vancouver spots and some hilarious suggestions for his beloved hometown.
