A Surrey man has been charged after allegedly “chasing” a security guard with a metal rod in a Vancouver parkade.
Officers responded to an emergency call from an on-duty security guard at a parkade near Cambie and Dunsmuir Street around 4:15am on Saturday, August 22nd.
The security was conducting routine patrols when he found a man sleeping inside the parkade.
“When asked to leave, the suspect allegedly produced a short metal rod and began swinging it at the guard and damaged the guard’s vehicle,” said Cst. Wong of the Vancouver Police Department.
The suspect proceeded to chase the guard on a bicycle.

Minutes later, police located a man matching the suspect’s description in a separate underground parkade near Cambie and West Georgia streets and arrested him without incident.
Clifford Carreon, a 41-year-old resident of Surrey, has been charged with assault with a weapon and mischief under $5000.
