Police are searching for a suspect after a senior was assaulted at a North Vancouver park last month.
Officers responded to a report of an assault at Dudley Place Playground on July 27th at 6:30pm.
The victim allegedly entered the playground to dispose of his dog’s waste in a trash can and the dog’s presence in the playground “upset the suspect”.
The suspect tackled the senior from behind and started to assault him.
Witnesses intervened to stop the assault and the suspect fled before police arrived. He was last scene travelling northbound on Thorncliffe Drive with a child on a bicycle.
“Investigators are releasing CCTV of the suspect fleeing after the assault in hopes that someone will recognize the suspect and call the police,” said Cst. Mansoor Sahak, Media Relations Officer for the North Vancouver RCMP in a release. “We are hoping that the alleged suspect in this assault does the right thing and comes forward to the police and their version of the events.”
The senior was transported to hospital for his injuries.
Witnesses and anyone with information is asked to contact the North Vancouver RCMP at 604-985-1311 and quote file 24-15071.
