Surrey RCMP is investigating shots fired overnight that targeted a Surrey jewelry store.
Just after 2am Thursday morning, received a report that a business located in the 8100-block of 128 Street had been shot at.
“Police attended the scene and located evidence consistent with a shooting. The business was closed at the time of the incident and no injuries were reported,” said Cpl. Vanessa Munn.
Videos shared on social media show bullet holes in the windows of Surrey’s RK Jewellers and a heavy police presence outside the Payal Business Centre store.
Investigators believe that this was a targeted shooting. Police have no evidence that links this shooting to the robbery that occurred in the same area on Wednesday morning.
“We are aware that two recent incidents within the same complex raises concerns in our community,” says, Surrey RCMP Media Relations Officer, Corporal Vanessa Munn.
“Our South Community Response Unit has been engaged, will be increasing patrols in the area as well as meeting with local businesses to discuss their concerns.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502.
