A suspect was arrested by police over the weekend after a staff member at a New Westminster store was “struck in the face” by a customer.
A witness in the 400 block of Columbia Street called police after seeing a customer assault a staff member at a local business around 2:30pm on June 23rd.
“The witness described seeing the staff member being struck in the face by the customer. The passerby and another customer at the store restrained the suspect before police arrived and took the suspect into custody,” said police in a release.
Police are thanking the two individuals who helped the staff member.
“Customer service staff deserve a safe working environment,” stated Sgt. Andrew Leaver. “The actions of these two citizens show they feel the same way. They were quick thinking and brave to intervene.”
