A trio of street racers in West Vancouver received huge fines for excessive speeding on the Trans-Canada Highway Wednesday morning.
The West Vancouver Police Department said in a release that an officer was conducting proactive speed enforcement on the Trans-near Westmount Road on July 17th around 4:21am. The officer observed three vehicles “travelling in a tight pack” and “visually estimated” their speed to be excessive.
“Radar confirmed their speed to be, and with the help of a second officer, the group was safely pulled over,” said the department in a release.
The three drivers were issued violation tickets for excessive speeding and had their vehicles impounded for 7 days.
“This type of behaviour is incredibly dangerous and puts members of the public at risk”, says Sgt. Chris Bigland. “Given the recent spate of tragic accidents, both here in West Vancouver and throughout the province, we are imploring drivers to obey the speed limit and drive responsibly”.
