Remains of 23-year-old man who went missing after night out found in Vancouver’s False Creek

The remains of Suleiman Khawar, the 23-year-old man who went missing after a night out in downtown Vancouver, have been found in False Creek.

Suleiman’s body was discovered by a boater near Granville Island just after 8:30am on Monday. The BC Coroners Service is now investigating.

Suleiman Khawar was last seen Thursday, May 25th while at Mansion Night Club near West Georgia and Thurlow in downtown Vancouver. At approximately 9pm, he entered Mansion Night Club for a one-year anniversary event and at about 10pm, he left the event.

At around midnight, he texted his family saying that he’s on his way home.

“The Vancouver Police extends condolences to Suleiman’s loved ones, and thanks all of the community members who came together to search for Suleiman after he went missing on May 25.”

Police say the investigation into his disappearance remains open. Anyone who saw or interacted with Suleiman just before midnight on May 25, or in the early hours of May 26, is asked to called VPD’s Missing Person Unit at 604-717-2530 or email vpd.missing@vpd.ca.
