Alcohol is believed to have been a “contributing factor” in a collision in Surrey Monday night that sent a pedestrian to hospital.
Surrey RCMP responded to a report of a pedestrian struck in the area of 188 Street and 60 Avenue around 9:30pm last night.
Officers located a male pedestrian at the scene, who was then transported to hospital with serious injuries. The vehicle involved, an Audi Q3, remained on scene.
“The driver was arrested for dangerous operation causing bodily harm and served with a 24-hour driving prohibition. The driver was later released without charges pending further investigation and their vehicle was impounded,” said Sgt. Tammy Lobb.
The Surrey RCMP’s Criminal Collision Investigation Team (CCIT) was called in to assist and the investigation remains ongoing at this time.
Witnesses and anyone with dash cam footage is asked to call Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 and quote file 2024-160816.
