Surrey driver gets $468 fine and car impounded for excessive speeding

A local Surrey driver was handed a $468 fine for excessive speeding.

Surrey RCMP’s Traffic Community Response Unit pulled over a BMW for going 147 km/h at the 13600 block of Highway 10. The driver was going 77 km/h over the speed limit.

“Going 77km/h over the speed limit got this driver a Level 2 Excessive Speed VT for $468 & their vehicle was impounded for 7 days,” said Surrey RCMP on Twitter.

A handful of social media users shared their thoughts in the comments.

“Suspend their license for life! Far too many dangerous drivers on the road that speed with impunity and complete disregard for the life and safety of others,” said one user.

“Make the fines heavier. Higher the price, the less they will speed. And double the impound fees,” added another user.
