Surrey man charged in connection to White Rock stabbing

A suspect connected to deadly stabbing in White Rock last week is now facing charges in relation to a separate stabbing that occurred a couple days before.



27-year old Dimitri Nelson Hyacinth from Surrey was arrested yesterday in connection to the fatal stabbing of 26-year-old Kulwinder Singh Sohi.

The White Rock RCMP responded to a report of injured man in the 15400-block of Marine Drive just before 9:30pm on April 23rd. The 26-year-old was found on the White Rock Promenade at the parking lot adjacent to the Grand Chief Bernard Robert Charles (Pa-Kwach-Tun) Memorial Plaza suffering from stab wounds.

In an update today, investigators say no charges have been laid against Hyacinth at this time in connection to the fatal stabbing that has left the White Rock community terrified. However, he is facing charges related to another stabbing.



On April 21, 28-year-old Jatinder Singh was transported to hospital after being stabbed on the White Rock Promenade. The victim was transported to hospital by Emergency Health Services with non-life-threatening injuries. IHIT announced Tuesday Hyacinth is now being charged with aggravated assault in connection to the April 21 stabbing of of Jatinder Singh.



“This is a dynamic and ongoing case. The investigation into the homicide of Mr. Sohi remains active,” says Sgt. Timothy Pierotti of IHIT.

“We’re thankful for the collaborative work being done by the IHIT investigators along with the White Rock RCMP.”
