This spring, a new photography experience that will be the first of its kind in Surrey is set to open.
Selfography Studio, Surrey’s first-ever self-portrait studio, is slated to open this month at 11088 126A Street. The trend of studios, where people themselves can take their own pictures with professional lighting and equipment, started in South Korea around 2016 before becoming popular around the world.
Sayar Krami of Selfography says he is excited to bring this concept to Surrey to help locals create endless memories with a touch of a button.
“We were inspired by this concept when we visited South Korea and saw the concept first-hand. It was so easy to use, fun and innovative,” said Krami. “The best part of it was that the photos came out so good! We knew that Metro Vancouver would absolutely love this concept.”
Unique photography experience like no other
Unlike other photography studios that require you to hire an actual photographer, you get to take the photos yourself! Selfography is a private experience in a closed room with a clicker where you’re able to shoot your own pictures by viewing yourself on monitors.

The space has two separate rooms that can be booked with different coloured backdrops. Visitors can play their own personalized music using their iPads and there’s also a change room in each room.
This one-of-a-kind photography experience can be booked for date night couple shoots, pet shoots, birthdays, family, graduations, headshots, business shoots, and all your other special occasions.
Bookings and pricing
Booking a photography session can be expensive, but Selfography has ensured their studio remains affordable for as many people as possible.
Photography sessions are $79 for half an hour. This comes with 2 free 4×6 inch prints and unlimited digital copies sent to you shortly afterwards. You also have the choice of ordering extra prints on photo paper, canvas, or aluminum.
“Using our AI software, our camera setup and clicker we are able to make each photo session super affordable by making taking photos a DIY process. This means that there is no photographer, you’re in control and you can even see the photos taken live while being instantly edited,” added Sayar Krami.
“A studio associate will be present to help guide you through our studio room, help you to get set up, and also print your favourite photos afterwards!”
