“Suspicious fire” started inside Fraser Valley Superstore

Police are investigating a “suspicious fire” that was started inside a Fraser Valley Superstore location.

Firefighters and police responded to the Superstore in Mission shortly before closing time at 11pm last night after a fire started in the toilet paper aisle.

In a release, police say smoke from the fire “quickly spread throughout the store,” which resulted in the sprinkler system being activated.

“All customers and employees exited safely, although some experienced minor smoke inhalation,” said Mission RCMP.

While the fire was put out before it could spread any further, the smoke and water damage is significant, forcing the store to remain closed at this time.

After collecting evidence and speaking with witnesses, investigators believe the fire was intentionally set.

Anyone who was at or around Superstore last night and saw anything that caught their attention is asked to call Mission RCMP at 604-826-7161.
