Summer is arguably the best season to explore our beautiful province, and one Fraser Valley city is inviting people to celebrate everything they have to offer.
Tourism Chilliwack has launched its new “The Great Outside” campaign that highlights the myriad of activities, vibrant cultural events, guided tours and unique local excursions available throughout the region!
“Chilliwack is a true gem when it comes to its breadth of outdoor recreation activities and ways to get away from it all in the heart of the Fraser Valley,” says Carly Brkich of Tourism Chilliwack.
“This campaign is all about celebrating The Great Outside and showcasing Chilliwack as the definitive destination for exhilarating al-fresco adventures of all sorts, with space and soul for everyone, and protecting this gift that we all are able to explore and enjoy.”
Those who love a good outdoor adventure can explore hiking trails like Browne Creek Wetlands and Vedder Mountain Ridge Trail, bike along the Canyon to Coast Trail, go rock climbing, enjoy a beautiful day of golfing at courses such as Royalwood Golf Course and Chilliwack Golf Club, or relax on the water in a kayak, canoe, or boat.

Fishers looking to catch White Sturgeon or Salmon have several locations they can choose from on the Fraser River and Chilliwack River. Tourism Chilliwack’s also offers a free Rod Rental Program that allows families and first-timers access to spinning rods, reels and basic tackle. The rentals are available from 10am to 4pm daily at the Tourism Chilliwack Visitor Centre (44150 Luckakuck Way).
The city is also hosting a number of festivals and events throughout the season, including the 153rd Chilliwack Fair and the Sweet Corn Festival at Greendale Acres Farm. For the month of August, Greendale has a jam-packed calendar full of family-friendly events in store. Other events happening in the city are the Chilliwack Flight Festival and the Chilliwack Mural Festival Block Park.

Chilliwack is renowned for its agriculture, and visitors can pick seasonal produce, get lost in a corn maze and sample fresh, local goods at a number of markets like the Downtown Chilliwack Community Farmers Markets, Market at the Coliseum, Artisan & Farm Market at Sardis Park, and Yarrow Farm Market.
Visitors who want a chance to connect with local farmers can go on the Chilliwack Circle Farm Tour, a self-guided journey through the region’s agricultural heart!
