Another incident involving a truck striking an overpass occurred in Langley Tuesday afternoon.
A truck carrying a van on its flatbed hit a CP overpass near the 232nd Street overpass in Langley.

Drive BC provided an update just before 4pm saying the incident has been cleared.

The Metro Vancouver Overpass Impact Counter X account also confirmed the collision. According to one of their posts, the driver hit the overpass after a “professional driver” warned them their load is too tall to go through.

In March, the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure announced truck drivers that hit overpasses in BC will now be facing higher penalties and possible imprisonment.
Changes to the to the Commercial Transport Act (CTA) will enable the courts to impose fines for as much as $100,000, as well as imprisonment up to 18 months upon conviction.
“With these new penalties, we are taking the strongest action possible to keep our roads safe and to keep people, goods and services moving,” said Rob Fleming, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure.
