Police have identified the two women found deceased on two separate beaches around Vancouver’s English Bay.
Officers responded to a call at 1:30pm Monday afternoon after a woman’s body was discovered on the shoreline near the Kitsilano Yacht Club. Another woman was found deceased in the water at Vancouver’s Sunset Beach around 10am Sunday morning.
“We now know the names of these women and we have informed their families of their tragic deaths,” says Sgt. Steve Addison. “While we continue to investigate both cases, we are confident these deaths are not connected.”
Earlier today, police identified the woman found on Sunset Beach. The cause of her death remains unknown, and police are not releasing her name at this time.
Later on Tuesday evening, investigators confirmed the identity of the woman found near Kits Beach on Monday.
“Out of respect for her, her family, friends, and loved ones, police will not be sharing additional information about her identity or how she died, however criminality is not suspected,” said police in a statement.
In the meantime, police are still asking anyone with information to come forward.
