It’s the moment Surrey native Arshdeep Bains has been waiting for his entire life.
After being called up on Saturday, the 23-year-old is set to make his NHL debut tonight as the Vancouver Canucks take on the Colorado Avalanche on the road.
Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet spoke with reports and said he wants to get Bains in the lineup tonight as Vancouver looks to bounce back from a bizarre 10-7 loss to the Minnesota Wild.
Bains spoke with Sportsnet’s Dan Murphy who added that his father will be in attendance.
The 23-year-old left winger took part in the team’s pre-game skate at Rogers Arena before their game against the Winnipeg Jets, but was not included in the lineup.
Vancouver signed the 6-foot, 184-pound Bains to an entry-level contract back in 2022, who leads the Abbotsford Canucks in points (39) this year.
When Arshdeep Bains makes his debut with the Vancouver Cauncks, he will become only the fourth ever Punjabi player to play in the NHL.
