Crews are on scene in Vancouver’s Chinatown neighbourhood after a fire broke out in an alley behind a restaurant Monday afternoon.
“Firefighters were called to 145 E Pender for report of smoke in a restaurant,” said Capt. Matthew Trudeau.
“Crews found smoke inside originating from a fire started outside in the back alley against the building.”
Vancouver Fire Rescue Services responded with several fire trucks.
“The fire spread up the wall and into a concealed space between layers of construction. Crews contained the fire and remained on scene to ensure no further spread or ignition,” added Capt. Trudeau.
Trudeau says the fire was “intentionally set” using combustible material against rear door.
East Pender is now open after being shut down by crews.
