Vancouver will see more harsh winter this week.
Environment Canada issued another weather statement Sunday afternoon, saying that Metro Vancouver will see “a messy mix of rain, freezing rain and snow” beginning Tuesday.
“Snow is expected to begin on Tuesday evening. Following the snow, parts of Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland could see a prolonged period of freezing rain or ice pellets overnight Tuesday into Wednesday morning,” says Environment Canada.
The “freezing precipitation” should change to rain during the day on Wednesday. However, the “timing of this transition is still uncertain”.
The weather agency warns that the heavy snow and freezing rain forecasted could create dangerous driving conditions.
Last week on Thursday, snow wreaked havoc on local roads as people rushed to get home.
From a vehicle ending up in a ditch in Burnaby to 20+ cars sliding down a hill near Burquitlam Station, it got ugly fast. There was even a massive car pileup on Highway 91 that led to massive traffic delays Thursday evening.
