A suspect was taken into police custody last week after a VPD officer was assaulted with bear spray.
The incident occurred in the Downtown Eastside on May 18th. After assaulting the officer, the suspect fled the scene. After fleeing the scene, police found the suspect hiding inside a porta potty on McLean Drive and East Hastings Street.
“After refusing to cooperate, officers used a beanbag shotgun to subdue him,” said the VPD on X.
The officer received medical treatment, and the suspect was taken into custody.
