A sign advertising a “whites-only” mom and tots play group was discovered at a Port Coquitlam bus stop, causing a considerable amount of outrage online.
The Instagram account @blackvancouver posted a picture of the sign and states that it was discovered near 2627 Shaugnessy Street in Port Coquitlam.
“Are you looking for somewhere your children can play with others that look like them? Are they tired of being a minority in their schools or daycares? Escape forced ‘diversity’ and join other proud parents of European children as we create an atmosphere in which our kids can feel like they belong,” reads the poster.
“Invest in your child’s sense of well being and racial identity by giving them the gift of time spent amongst their own people – because they deserve it,” continues the poster.

More of these posters have been spotted and the City of Port Coquitlam’s bylaw officers have been taking them down.
Port Coquitlam Mayor Brad West commented on the posters and said “this vile garbage isn’t welcome in our community, or anywhere else”.
“As soon as it was brought to our attention, Bylaw officers immediately searched the area & all bus stops, but no signs were present. Perhaps being removed by someone else,” said Brad West.
“The City of Port Coquitlam condemns this in the strongest terms and promotes an environment without hate. We thank our community for bringing this to our attention and we encourage residents to report incidents such as this to the RCMP at 604-945-1550.”
As expected many online users expressed their outrage and shock.
“This should be charged as a hate crime this is disgusting.” said one Instagram user.
“Unbelievable really. I’m so sad,” added another.
