Wildfire smoke has started to cover Metro Vancouver (PHOTOS + VIDEOS)

Wildfire smoke from fires burning in BC has made its way to Metro Vancouver.

According to firesmoke.ca, wildfire smoke will intensify throughout Saturday and a significant amount of smoke will blanket the region during the weekend.

As of 10:15am Saturday morning, Vancouver’s air quality is considered good according to IQ Air. Metro Vancouver’s air quality is expected to deteriorate later in the afternoon.

Many social media users have shared photos and videos that show smoky skies in their area.

With raging wildfires across BC, the province declared a state of emergency Friday afternoon.

“This year, we are facing the worst wildfire season ever in British Columbia. Over the past 24 hours, the situation has evolved rapidly and we are in for an extremely challenging situation in the days ahead,” said Premier David Eby.

“There are numerous fires across the province threatening communities. Thousands of people are under evacuation orders, and tens of thousands more are on evacuation alert.”
