A 27-year-old man was arrested earlier this month after a woman “pushing a stroller” was the victim of a disturbing stranger attack in New Westminster.
A witness called police on May 5th around 1pm after they had seen a woman being assaulted. The incident occurred at the pedestrian crosswalk on 10th Street near the roundabout at Carnarvon and 10th Street.
Responding officers located someone matching the suspect’s description who “did not immediately comply with police”. Officers were able to safely place the suspect under arrest “after several minutes of de-escalation”.
Police learned from the victim that the suspect “pushed her baby stroller before striking her in the face”.
“The child appeared to be unharmed; however the mother sustained injuries to her face,” said police in a release.
