Stabbing near Port Coquitlam high school sends youth to hospital

Police are seeking witnesses and video footage after a youth was stabbed near a Port Coquitlam high school Monday afternoon.

Shortly after 2:45pm, Coquitlam RCMP responded to a stabbing at Terry Fox Park, located at at 1269 Riverside Drive in Port Coquitlam.

One youth victim was transported to hospital by BC Emergency Health Services to get treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police are now searching for three suspects in connection to the stabbing.

“Three youth suspects dressed in all black are believed to have fled in a black sedan,” said police in a release.

“The park was heavily populated at the time and we are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact our investigators,” said Cpl. Alexa Hodgins. “We are asking anyone who may have cellphone or dash-cam video and were in the area of Terry Fox Park near Riverside Drive and Po Avenue between 2:15 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. to contact the Coquitlam RCMP and quote file number 2024-27958.”

Coquitlam RCMP’s General Investigation Section (GIS) is now leading the investigation.
